Changdeokgung Palace (UNESCO world heritage) – The Palace served as the main building after 9th king
Seojong of Joseon, when a number of kings used this palace as a place of dwelling and working.
It is comprised of a public palace area, a royal family residence building, and the rear garden which has been
kept as natural as possible and where human hands were only used when absolutely necessary.
Move to Hwaseong Fortress (UNESCO world heritage) located in Suwon City,
Gyeonggi-do province, one and a half hour drive south of Seoul.
Hwangseong Fortress was started and completed by King Jeongjo of Joseon Dynasty (1392~1910) in September of 1796.
An interesting point to note about the Fortress is that it was planned and built using the ideas of practical science.
Both stones and bricks were used, while heavy materials were lifted by using a system of pulleys to reduce building time, and the scientific structures made it possible to attack and defend effectively.
It was a pioneering achievement for that era in terms of cutting down the estimated building time of 10 years to an impressive 33 months.Back to your hotel and take a rest.
